The Osun State Police command on Saturday said it has arrested five people in connection with the Friday night attack on the convoy of the Osun State First Lady, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola.
Politics Nigeria had reported that some hoodlums attacked the governor’s wife convoy around Owode, in Ede while she was on route to Osogbo, the state’s capital.
The Police command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola in a statement obtained by this newspaper, said some persons were immediately apprehended.
“One Omotola Opeyemi ‘M’ of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, a driver of the truck without registration number blocked the movement of the First Lady, as a result of a traffic blockage.
“The driver was wounded on his forehead while some hoodlums took advantage of that and started stoning vehicles in the convoy that got one Department of State Service (DSS) personnel wounded.
“However, five suspects were arrested at the scene,” the police’s statement reads in part.
No life was lost in the Skirmish which witnessed sporadic gunshots.
